Indie afropunk artist, Caktuz, teams with Go-Go frontman Shorty Corleone (Rare Essence) to direct Corleone’s Way. This gritty urban noir, set in the underworld of Washington D.C.’s notorious Go-Go scene, follows the intersecting lives of a talented group of artists all struggling to keep the music alive, before the cities growing gentrification swallows a legacy of legends past.
More than just a long playing music video series, Corleone’s Way, unifies young and older generations of the DMV music culture, for the 1st time, in a light never before seen.
The buzz around the Go-Go community has already labeled Corleone’s Way, a moment in ‘history’ for the genre, once passed by as Hop-Hop’s cousin. Recent press and a steady rise in the musics resurgence could possibly make Go-Go music – the new rock N’ roll.
